FAQs

Do you deliver your soups?

Yes! We deliver to Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, and immediately surrounding cities.

How does your delivery and pickup work?

Delivery: Saturday 12-6pm

Pick up: Saturday 9-11am

I live outside of your delivery area, can I still receive your soups?

Currently, we only deliver to addresses in Oakland, Richmond, Berkeley and immediately surrounding cities. In an effort to retain freshness of food, we hand deliver your purchase within our coverage area.  If you are outside of our delivery area, you can contact us to make a special arrangement.

If you are unsure if we cover your area or have additional inquiries, please contact us at purposeandhopefood@gmail.com.

We aim to expand our reach throughout the local community as we grow.

How are your soups packaged?

Due to the national glass jar shortage, we now offer our soups in a recyclable FDA food and freezer safe barrier bag or have the option for your soups sent in a reusable glass jar for a fee of $2 per soup. Soups are kept cold and on ice during delivery.

For soups that are delivered in the barrier bag, we will only load the soups when they are cold in temperature. If you choose to have your soups delivered in a glass jar, you have the option to return unwanted glass jars which will be professionally sanitized before reuse.

What is your delivery fee?

We charge a $10 delivery fee and offer free delivery for orders over $150. Our delivery day is every Saturday. We typically deliver between 12-6pm. We also have pick up available Saturday mornings 9-11am as an option which will remove the delivery fee.

If you know you will not be home during the time of delivery, we suggest two options. 1. You can provide your own cooler and ice packs, so we can safely leave your food at your address. 2. You can request that we package your order in a reusable insulated bag with an ice pack for an additional $20 fee to cover the cost of packing materials (option available at checkout).

How should I store my soups?

We package our soups in sanitized glass jars and place them in an ice bath after production. This allows you to keep our soups in your refrigerator for up to 3-5 days after delivery and in the freezer for up to 6 months after delivery.

We recommend allowing the soup to thaw in the refrigerator or in a warm bath of water before heating it on the stove.

For our bone broth orders, we recommend removing 20% of broth from the glass jars before freezing to prevent jar breakage.

How do you select your ingredients? Are the ingredients you use organic?

Like you, we are careful about what we put in our bodies. We do our best to select organic produce as much as possible. We primarily source our produce from small, family-operated farms in northern California that use non-spray practices but may not have the ability to pay for organic certification. Some items that we use are too difficult to source or have an extraordinarily high price point to buy as organic yet still see a quality and purpose to include in our recipes.Additionally, we use the updated EWG (Environmental Working Group) Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen produce list when selecting non-organic produce. While some ingredients are non-organic, they are carefully and thoughtfully selected

I am vegetarian/vegan, are there options for me?

Yes. Our soups are typically made with bone broth, but we respect your choice to consume animal free products. Please indicate in your order that you would prefer the base of your soup be made with our vegan mineral broth, and we will happily honor your request.

What if I have special dietary needs?

We promise that our products are always free of gluten, dairy, and refined sugar unless otherwise indicated. At this time, we are dedicated to creating soups that help nourish and soothe the body. We are always looking for ways to better serve our community but are not able to create custom soups to fit each individual’s specific needs.

How salty are your soups?

We understand that your sense of taste might change when undergoing medical treatment or when you aren’t feeling well. We tend to under salt our soup recipes and carefully select and use mineral rich salts. If you feel that your item is under salted, we welcome you to add more salt to suit your tastes. Our broths are always made without salt so that you can customize the flavors to your own liking.

My soup looks very thick. Is this normal?

Depending on the broth base you choose for your soups, there may be a tendency for the broth to take on a gelatinous quality when cold. This is due to natural collagen and is most common with the beef or chicken bone broth. If the soup appears too thick for your liking, we recommend heating the soup first before diluting it with other liquids to ensure you can enjoy a rich and flavorful experience in each spoonful.

I would like to purchase your soup, but I am not currently experiencing an illness, can I still place an order?

Absolutely! You are welcome to purchase our products for any reason, at any time. Our goal is to support you through all of the challenges you go through in life. We strongly believe that good food is an important aspect of wellness.

Can I cancel my order?
